You will have five questions for you to post an answer during the week of June 12-16. You can answer them all at one time or throughout the week. Please return toward the end of the week and make at least three responses to three other peoples' comments on any of the five questions. Have fun and enjoy the journey of blogging!!

When doing contour line drawings of a model, I tell the students "wrinkles are your friend". I tell them this to get them notice the wrinkles instead of the outline of the figure.

One of my favorite quotes is “The art of teaching is the art of assisting discovery.” -Mark Van Doren

I also like the quote "Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life." -Pablo Picasso

Pablo Picasso once said, "I spent my whole childhood learning how to draw like an adult. Now I'm spending my adulthood learning to SEE like a child." I always liked that one.
Also, Robert Rauschenberg said, "Art is life and life is art." That's a nice summary of how there is so much art (or design) in everything around us.

I like Pam's quote that "Art is not about never making mistakes. Art is about knowing which ones to keep!" and
"You may make a lot of "messterpieces" before you make any "masterpieces!"

I think those two quotes are good ones to tell students because they can motivate students when they are feeling discouraged about their art work. It also conveys that sometimes art work will not turn out exactly how you expected...but you need to work with it and adjust accordingly.
