Question 2 Response

As a art teacher I try to motivate my students everyday in their art making. Praising students on their progress everyday has been a good way to keep most students engaged in their art making and they don't seem to feel as discouraged and give up easily. Whenever I am giving constructive criticism on their projects I feel it is important to tell them what is working in the composition as well as what can be improved on. Only telling students what they need to work on discourages them and makes them feel less confident. Once in awhile if the class has been good and they have been overall working consistently I will let students have a day where they can bring in food and work on their projects. They like once in awhile having a day where they can let loose a little bit.

From Mary Lou- AP scoring experience in Princeton

Group, this post is optional if you would like to comment on it, but Mary Lou wanted me to relay her first full day in Princeton for the AP Art scoring...

From Mary Lou:
Just a quick update on the scoring. We are scoring 26,000 portfolios this week. We were trained on the scoring rubric this morning in quality and concentration and have already started the scoring this afternoon. The task is mentally and physically challenging. Lots of interesting people from all over. Please update the group on day one of my scoring journey.
